Music is space where it's tempting to approach things having an indulgent philosophy. If you think of it, anything from selling out shows to proving your music has been listened to around streaming platforms is dependent on numbers. Better numbers you will generate, whether or not it's song streams, fans over social media, or downloads of this music, the more effective, right? I do not think it's that straightforward, along with an age where music is so intertwined with numbers, we run the risk of valuing musicians a lot of or too little because everything is connected to numbers now. Rather then adopting a “more is obviously better” mentality around your music, you could possibly benefit in a big way from stepping back and embracing an increasingly minimal approach––especially in relation to songwriting.
