#Photoshop: #Lightroom: 3 Simple Tactics To Speed Up Your Editing Workflow

Any time you spend behind your computer editing is time you’re not spending with a camera in your hand practicing your shooting skills. Sure, good post processing skills are important too, but, as I’m sure you’ve heard a million times already, it’s always best to learn how to prevent mistakes in camera rather than learning how to fix them in post production.

Grand Turk / Cockburn Town

At 9h30am left the ship and then went through the Grand Turk Cruise Center. Is a tourist zone with many shops. There is even a Harley Davidson shop. Cigars are expensive. Afterwards wentabout 1.5 hours from the cruise center to the capital Cockburn Town.

Is quite a challenge at 40C under the Caribbean sun. There is no sign to mark the entrance of Cockburn Town. I am already in the middle of the "city", but I noticed only when I found the National Museum. And this is almost at the other end of the town.

No signs, no city center, on the beach street Duke Street there are some restaurants, but no hustle and bustle like in other Caribbean cities. On the beach is also the post office as well as a house, which looks like a multi-family house, but is the Treasury Financial Management Unit, thus a kind Treasury. Interesting in the museum: the oldest European ship in the Caribbean was found here, possibly the Pinta, one of the ships of Christopher Columbus, which he lost on his fourth voyage. The coat of arms contains two mountains of salt, formerly an important economic factor. As the flag-makers in London did not know where Grand Turk is, they have believed the two mountains were iglous and have drawn doors into the hills. After all, the doors were in the coat of arms for 99 years.

A big story is the landing of the Mercury 7 with John Glenn near the Grand Turks after a successful space mission, the orbiting of the earth. After 1.5 hours walk back to the cruise center a few photoshootings on the beach.

The beaches are very lonely. Although there are plenty, free, beach chairs available, but at the lunch time few people are on the beach.

Turks and Caicos Islands are located on a high plateau in the sea, whose tops form the islands. Many houses are built elevated. Obviously, floods occur from time to time. It is to be feared that these islands will be flooded by the sea if the sea level should rise a few meters.

San Juan / Puerto Rico

2017-07-27 San Juan
Early in the morning breakfast, because the ship arrived around 7h. The arriving in the harbor was spectacular. We pass the fortress of El Morro (San Filipe).

In 1499 Christopher Columbus landed here and named the island of San Juan Bautista. In 1551, Jean Ponce de Leon named the city of Puerto Rico. In the 16th century, however, an unknown mapmaker exchanged the two names by error. And that has remained so until today. At the fortified wall, which surrounds the old town, many cats live, which are fed with specially placed boxes. No idea why.
In the City there is a cats monument.

The city is very well maintained and it represents how I imagined Caribbean.

Puerto Rico is US outdoor area. Small streets and lanterns as well as palm trees on the streets. In the old town, free buses run two round trips to the sights, but you can discover more when you walk. It's a pity that the ship has already left at 2pm. The time was too short to look at all interesting attractions and sights.

St.Kitts

Landing in St.Kitts (formerly St.Christopher, because Christopher Columbus discovered the island), which is connected with the island Nevis, at 8h15.

When you leave the port you go through a shopping mile called Marina Mall, where jewelers with special diamond offers alongside souvenir and textile shops. Everything for the tourists.

In between traders with travel offers, taxis and people putting small monkeys on the tourists shoulders for a photo.

Interesting the advertising of a chocolate company in St. Kitts: "Chocolate says" I'm sorry "so much better than words" and "10 top things to buy when you're in St.Kitts: 1 chocolate, 2 chocolate, .. . ".

St. Kitts once had a large sugar industry, which went down with the end of the slavery. This is all documented in the National Museum, admission 3 USD. Inside you could even play on a steel drum. I have tried. A bit of creativity in the museum.

The Catholic Church Immacalate Conception Co-Cathedral is kept simple. There was another church, Norwick Church, which was closed.

In the evening tasted aligator meat. Looks bright like chicken, tastes a little chewy.

Originell die Werbung einer in St.Kitts gefertigten Schokolade: "Chocolate says "I'm sorry" so much better than words" und "10 Top Things to buy when you're in St.Kitts: 1 chocolate, 2 chocolate,...".

Philipsburg / Sint Maarten

9h Arrival in Sint Maarten, the Dutch side of St.Martin (French) and St.Maarten. On arrival you will get a free shopping bag, so you know what is expected. Walked to Philipsburg. In the morning it was rainy, but as usual, the clouds will dissipate during the day and the sun will burn down.

In Philipsburg there is a nice beach with the beach promenade Front Street and of course bars and hotels.

Behind there is Back Street and another two streets to the sea. In the city there are four churches, an Oranje School, the Philipsburg Marketplace and Old Street.

There is a large number of jewelers in the streets. I am surprised that they can all survive. On the other hand, Antwerp is the largest diamond market place in the world. The business seems to be going so well that I have received a voucher to get a gold chain at "Di Diamonds International" for free. You can buy gold and diamonds tax-free, which makes the place particularly interesting for Americans.
A woman here needs the spouse's credit card. Unfortunately, she has to accept a husband.

There are also Cuban cigars and even cigars made in St.Maarten. I always get texted by someone. Beach chairs around 25 USD including 5 beers and wifi. Jeweler's offer, souvenir shop, umbrella cap, taxis, boat tour, ... Annoying, but the turnover must be done. Philipsburg pays to the shipping company to "unload" passenger here. And so tourism is business number one instead of salt. Tourists seem to be the only source of income on this island.

Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science / Miami

Was today in the newly opened Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science. Buses with schoolchildren. At the experiments there always a turmoil.

I sat down in the museum park and put suncream on. Spectacular landing of a seaplane.

As I finished with the suncream a heavy thunderstorm came over Miami. Lightning in 1 km distance.
The Metromover train is almost no longer visible. You cannot see the skyscrapers behind.

No one wanted to seesaw at that wet weather. But it was not cold. Despite the rain pleasant 25C (I guess).

In the supermarket I mistakenly pushed a woman. Have said "Sorry, I did not want to trump you". She laughed. This is my statement to the US president.

War heute im neu eröffneten Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science.

Habe gesagt "Sorry, I did not want to trump you".

Coconut Grove / Miami

I have breakfast every morning in a snack restaurant next to the hotel. Today they asked me where
I came from. "Austria" Then: "Oh, love
this country, so beautiful. And so many animals, not only kangaroos. " I replied:" No, no, Austria!
"We have Mozart, they have the kangaroos"
"Moz ... what? Do not know this animal" I gave up then.

Early in the morning I walked around in downtown with the camera. At the court building I photographed an animal. Living wild there.

Then I was in Coconut Grove. The Barnacle House is the oldest still existing house in Miami Dade.
The house and the boat house  at the water side with repair workshop was built in 1891 by Commodore Ralph Munroe. This was a pioneer, had a living from from ship repair and wreckage. The wood in the house comes from the salvaged shipwrecks. In the rocking chair on the terrace I feel like a Southern landlord. Have the photo trimmed on old, so it look more "landlordy".

Then I went to Vizcaya. The industrialist James Deering (Deering Harvester Company: agricultural
machinery) wanted a house in the style of Italian Renaissance. The interior is a mixture of all
possible epochs, which he purchase in Europe. Often the mood is more important than authenticity,
so styles of different epochs are often mixed in one room. Here is the working room of Mr.Deering:

Lovely garden with own jetty.

"Austria" Darauf: "Oh, love this country, so beautiful. And
so many animals, not only kangaroos." Ich drauf: "No, no, Austria! We have Mozart, they
have the kangaroos" Fragt einer "Moz...what? Don't know this animal" Ich habs dann
aufgegeben.

in Europa käuflich erwerben konnte.
Mr.Deering siehe oben.

Coral Gables / Miami

Was today at the Lowe Art Museum in Coral Gables, called City Beautiful. This part of the city is
Italian and Spanish. George H. Merrick planned it that way. He wanted to build a dream city. The
old construction regulations still apply today. He built his house with limestone and thought the
inclusions were corals, which is not true. The name has remained. Coral Gables is a community in
the Miami area.
Along Santa Maria Street and up to the Coral Way are very classy houses.

Reminds me somehow on noble southern houses. Behind the houses and their properties are golf
courses. Not only golf courses, but huge places.

It is very hot and humid. In the streets are huge trees with several stems and thick air roots. Some
have a circumference of several meters. Looks like the remains of mangroves. Have taken 1.2l water
with me and it was almost too little. I'm walking, not driving.

An attraction in this rich district is Venetian pool, a bathing resort with Venetian elements.

Erinnert mich irgendwie an herrschaftliche Südstaatenhäuser.

venezianischen Elementen.
